It’s time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in 5 Minutes”. We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. You can expect a new MMORPG that isn’t actually one, the first gameplay from the Horizon MMORPG, a look at housing in WoW, the return of a popular content, and more.
Highlights of the week:
- During G-Star 2025, NCsoft first introduced the MMORPG of Horizon and showcased a lot of gameplay. A large part of the community appreciates the presented scenes. Colleague Sophia Weiss, a Horizon fan, is also looking forward to the game. But one thing is already bothering her.
- The developers of the MMORPG Aion 2 have revealed their new release date for the West and also explained how the game should differ.
- The beta test of World of Warcraft Midnight is live. We’ll tell you how you can start playing now and what to expect.
- On December 3, the prologue update of WoW: Midnight will give you early access to housing! On December 10, the return of the Battle Guild is on the agenda, a solo challenge where you have to face various bosses alone. You can find all the information about both dates on blizzard.com.

What happened with the major MMORPGs:
- The end of many addons in World of Warcraft is near. Blizzard explains in detail why this has to happen right now.
- In World of Warcraft: Midnight, visiting dungeons is tied to conditions. However, these aren’t as bad as some fear.
- In Midnight, all classes in World of Warcraft will change. Over 100 abilities will disappear, leading to drastic adjustments.
- Housing fans in World of Warcraft will have to consider whether they want to become professional raiders. Otherwise, they won’t get all the items.
- If you are dissatisfied with World of Warcraft, you can always reach out to the Game Director. That has actually worked in one case.
- Warlocks in World of Warcraft will receive more demonic company. A pretty handsome Incubus will join you if you want.
- Not all mounts in WoW Legion Remix are available at the vendor right away. One of them needs to be unlocked by solving a riddle.
- The three Twitch streamers Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller, Maximilian “HandOfBlood” Knabe, and Giacomo “Metashi12” Gaviria have already planned a project for December 2025. - The developers of Lost Ark revealed the current plans for upcoming progression events, on playlostark.com: “In November, it’s about celebrating the endgame and the hardcore players who are eagerly awaiting their chance to challenge the Lord of the Abyss, and in December, it’s about providing a better experience for new and returning players.”

What happened with the smaller MMORPGs:
- With Halmgaard, a new 2D MMORPG has launched for PC, Mac, and Mobile. You can find the official website at halmgaard.com. For the Android version, go to play.google.com.
- The spring festival has started in Lord of the Rings Online and runs until December 1, 2025. You can find all the event information at lotro.com.
- Pax Dei addresses one of the biggest criticisms with the latest update from October 13 and brings an option to the servers to earn land tokens. You can find the patch notes for this and other innovations at playpaxdei.com.
- The community of RuneScape has advocated for the treasure hunter to be removed from the game starting January 19, 2025, while many fundamental adjustments are set to arrive that will usher in a new era for RuneScape. You can find all the information at runescape.com.
- In the anime MMORPG Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, the developers have released many new contents since the release. Now there’s finally a breather, but it doesn’t please all fans.

- The MMORPG oldie Entropia Universe continues to modernize. This week there was an update regarding the plans, focusing on things like the user interface and crafting on Steam.

What happened with MMORPGs in development:
- Publisher Kakao Games recently addressed the planned release windows for 9 projects set to launch in 2026. Included are: ArcheAge Chronicles and Chrono Odyssey.
- Like Project Ghost, the new Warhammer MMORPG by Jackalyptic Games has also fallen victim to NetEase’s cost-cutting measures. The number of hopeful MMO projects for the future is steadily decreasing.
