The MMORPG Crimson Desert has released new details about the story and the fundamental gameplay. Additionally, some new screenshots have been shared.
What is the story about? Crimson Desert carries the subtitle “A Saga Written in Blood”. Accordingly, the MMORPG is quite dark.
As players, you will experience the story from the perspective of various characters. All are members of a mercenary group led by Macduff, the main character from the trailer. The focus is on the struggles and pain of the mercenaries, but also on the will to survive in a hostile world.
Each character has a different backstory and a unique influence on the course of the story. You take on the roles of these characters and can equip and enhance them.
Successor to Black Desert that is not a successor
What is Crimson Desert? Crimson Desert describes itself as a next-gen MMORPG. In this game, you will experience the entire story campaign in single-player mode. Accordingly, the story is expected to take a major role and delve deeply.
The open world, on the other hand, is that of an MMORPG. There will be plenty of playable content, exploration, trade, and endgame tasks. You will encounter mythical creatures, brutal mercenaries, and other powerful enemies.
The focus is on PvE, although there will also be PvP content.
How does Crimson Desert relate to Black Desert? Originally, Crimson Desert was meant to be the successor to the successful MMORPG Black Desert. However, the developers have since taken a different direction.
Aside from some Easter eggs and references, the world of Crimson Desert has nothing in common with its predecessor.
The entire game has been recreated with new stories, characters, and lore specifically for Crimson Desert.
The new MMORPG for PC and console
When is Crimson Desert coming out? Pearl Abyss has been working on the new MMORPG since 2018. It was showcased at G-Star 2019 and a first beta was planned for 2020.
However, we do not yet know exactly when Crimson Desert will be released.
What we do know is that the MMORPG is planned for PC and “the consoles”. Crimson Desert will likely be released for PS4 and Xbox One, but it is also possible for the upcoming generation with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett.
