Some players despair in The Division 2 at finding SHD tech. Some suspect a bug. However, it could also be due to a hidden laptop that is easily overlooked and hides 5 SHD tech.
What is SHD tech? SHD tech is required to unlock skill variants and perks at the operations base with the quartermaster. It can be found in certain containers scattered throughout the game world.
To activate these and make them visible on the map, you must first activate certain laptops. You can find these in the safe houses of the respective districts.
This is the problem: Many players think they have already found all the containers. After all, they have completed all missions, scoured everything on the map. Yet they are missing one skill.
Often a bug is suspected behind it. However, the solution is probably simpler, as an SHD laptop can be quite easily overlooked.
On Reddit, user EditedRed posted the solution. In addition, Discord user C_H_O_S_E_N pointed this out to us.
There is a hidden SHD laptop in the campus
This could solve the SHD issue for you: If you also have the issue with missing SHD tech, you should visit the campus settlement.
There is actually an SHD laptop placed a little off the beaten path that is not shown on your map.

Here’s how to find the laptop:
- Go to the campus vendor
- To the left of it, there is a passage between the containers
- Follow the passage to the end
- There you will find a box with the laptop that holds the information for you.
Now the remaining SHD containers should be visible on the map.

That there is even a laptop is not clear to many
Why do many overlook the laptop? The reasons are quite simple:
- First of all, the laptop is not marked on the map. Also, as mentioned above, the laptops are actually supposed to be found in safe houses.
- However, there is no safe house in the campus area. Therefore, most assumed that there would also be no laptop.
This is how the community reacts: Many players were already desperate and assumed a bug or display error that prevented them from finding the remaining SHD tech.
However, for many it actually turned out that it was the missing laptop. The Reddit post by EditedRed has since received a gold badge, and many have responded gratefully, like the user DamageG0D:
I have completed every mission, every side mission, opened every SHD container, even the 4 secret containers at the White House, and unlocked every perk and skill except for one. All I was missing were the 5 SHD tech for the last skill! And then you came along, my hero and savior!

Many other players are thankful for this. However, some still complain that they are missing SHD tech.
Some SHD containers are located in mission areas and can apparently only be found during those missions.
So you should pay close attention to your surroundings when you are in mission areas.
