But now, medals are also supposed to entice you to use the routes feature more actively. However, the reward is not very well received by the trainers.

How are trainers reacting to the medals? The new feature is causing quite a discussion in the community. While some trainers are happy about the new challenge, others find the goal of completing 600 routes for a corresponding platinum medal to be too high.
As Lightning1999 explains on Reddit: I swear they pick the requirements for each medal arbitrarily. 600 for platinum is such an impossible number.
Furthermore, the joy about the new reward is generally limited, as trainers are looking for something better to make the routes attractive for them.
What are trainers demanding? Instead of medals, most players are wishing for better rewards for completing routes. In particular, they would like an improvement regarding the Zygarde cells.
These are needed to be able to transform Zygarde into its other forms. However, these have been very difficult to find in the past. I wish they would guarantee a cell for the first 3 completed routes. I have had days where I completed 20 routes and only got one cell. I am no longer looking for routes. It’s not worth the effort.
