In New World new tokens for a free server transfer were distributed yesterday. But this is causing chaos. Some companies wanted to switch to another server together, but that didn’t work. Now they are divided into two servers.
Where are the problems? Amazon gifted all players in New World a second, free character transfer. This allows them to independently switch servers, for example, because they want to play with another company or their server has become too empty.
On some servers, entire companies decided to switch together and establish themselves on a new server. But this failed for two reasons:
- On the one hand, not all players received the item for a server transfer at the same time. The tokens are being distributed between February 17 and 22.
- On the other hand, some servers were quickly marked as “full”, so switching to them was no longer possible.
On reddit and in the forum, several companies are now complaining that they were suddenly split.
9 servers are now full, have a queue again at primetime
Where was the biggest problem? On reddit the user Qwali reports that he would like to switch to the Midgard server with his entire company. It was considered quite active before the transfer, although not overcrowded.
But apparently so many players wanted to switch to Midgard that only part of his company made the jump while the rest had to stay on the old server:
My company moved to Midgard today, and while we waited for the others to join throughout the day, the server was shut down. Our company is now split across two servers. Those who couldn’t move are now stuck on a dead server.
He is not alone in this. There are several threads on reddit and in the forum reporting that their company was fragmented. Besides Midgard, there are currently eight other servers completely full:
- Avalon
- Bran
- Brittia
- Evonium
- Learad
- Ship-Trap
- Tartarus
- Vega
It is even reported that there were queues of up to 500 players again on some servers during primetime yesterday (via reddit). Since only about 2,000 players can fit on one server, logging in can take some time.
Community blames Amazon, but also the players themselves
Who is to blame for this? There are differing opinions. Some see the fault with Amazon:
- They could have given all players a token for the server transfer at the same time
- They could have always equipped one server completely with tokens before moving on to the next one. This way, companies or entire communities could have completed the transfer together before the other servers were up.
- Some also wish for more precise overviews of the player numbers per server to make better decisions about switching.
However, some users also say that the companies are to blame themselves. They could have waited until all players of the company had a token to switch at the same minute. They could have also made a more thoughtful choice regarding a server switch.
Some players are now gathering on a Discord server to plan together which servers should still be filled and which ones will remain barren (via Discord).
In any case, players are currently upset and Amazon has to come up with something. A free return transfer or another free transfer token for all players could be possible.
What do you think about the chaos in New World? And who is really to blame for it?
