Helldivers 2 now drops you onto a new planet and resurrects a forgotten enemy of Over-Earth.
What is this update about? In Helldivers 2, the fight against the robots escalates further. After Over-Earth equipped its brave fighters last week with patch 6.0.1 with a tank and a too powerful hammer, they are heading to a new planet tomorrow, on February 10, 2026: Cyberstan.
The Helldivers are to prevent the robots on Cyberstan from building a powerful weapon of war using the stolen blueprints of the “Star of Peace”, capable of destroying entire planets.
Over-Earth has already discovered many factories on the planet. In trailers for the update, the planet already looks like a robot hell:
A new enemy in the galactic war
What is this threat? In Helldivers 1, Cyberstan was known as the home planet of the cyborgs. The cyborgs, like the robots, are a hostile faction that fought a bitter war against Over-Earth.
In contrast to the robots, the cyborgs are former humans who led a rebellion against Over-Earth and were obsessed with the cybernetic augmentation of their bodies.
According to the history books of Over-Earth, the cyborgs have been defeated once and for all, but everything suggests that this is changing now. In the latest video from Helldivers 2, a voice that no longer sounds particularly human says:
You enslaved us in the name of freedom. You tried to eradicate us in the name of freedom. But we endured. We survived. We are the cyborg legion. And now we are free.
So it could be that Helldivers is laying the groundwork for the return of the cyborgs as enemies of Over-Earth with this update. The cyborgs would then be the fourth faction of enemies after the bugs, the robots, and the Illuminated.
Here you can see the video with the cryptic comeback message of the cyborgs:
What does this have to do with the robots? The exact connection between the robots and cyborgs remains unclear, but back in February 2024, players theorized that the cyborgs had created the robots.
The community suspected at that time that this was also the reason why the robots were not moving towards Over-Earth, but towards Cyberstan. They would be trying to reach their “masters”. You can read the original story here: Players of Helldivers 2 believe they have figured out the robots’ target – and it is not Over-Earth
