In the FUT Store, players of FIFA 21 can now find cosmetic items, including a stadium theme and a bundle. For the first time, they can purchase cosmetic items without going through packs (loot boxes). However, this has not been well received in the community.
What has appeared in the FUT Store? Until now, you have drawn in-game items from FIFA 21 from the FUT Packs, which are loot boxes that randomly decide which item you get and which you do not.
Now, there are some stadium items available for direct purchase in the store. EA explains that these items and bundles will appear at various times. They are said to be limited stadium items.
Currently, you can buy the following:
- ‘Football Means Everything’ choreo for 11 FUT coins or 150 FIFA Points
- Stadium theme for 15,000 FUT coins or 200 FIFA Points
- Home jersey for 25,000 FUT coins or 300 FIFA Points
- Away jersey for 25,000 FUT coins or 200 FIFA Points
- The ‘Football Means Everything’ bundle for 60,000 FUT coins or 700 FIFA Points
In the future, more limited availability items may be added.
How can you purchase the items? You use FUT coins or FIFA Points to acquire the items.
This is how FIFA fans react to the new store items
What is the problem? On one hand, players find the prices significantly too high. If you look at the transfer market, you can find these items much cheaper. The stadium theme, for example, is already going for 7,600 FUT coins there. In the store, EA demands 15,000 coins.
Even the bundle can be bought for 13,000 FUT coins instead of 60,000. Furthermore, there’s the issue that items bought in the bundle and individually would be duplicate.
How do players perceive this: The reactions are very negative. Both YouTubers and players are upset about it.
Here you can see the reaction from YouTuber ArciiGaming:
We summarize some reactions from the community here:
- ‘Connor Rush dramatizes the situation a bit (via Youtube): ‘This is really the beginning of the end for FIFA.’
- Nath conolly gets sarcastic (via Youtube): ‘I can’t wait until you can buy icons for 180,000 FIFA Points in the store.’
- Matthew Mason finds the prices high (via Youtube): ‘The prices for the cosmetics are unrealistic – they should be divided by 10 to be somewhat acceptable.’
- pizza 4u finds it not so bad (via Youtube): ‘The stadium items are a bit lost, but I don’t think you have to hate them for that. The idea isn’t so bad. It’s everyone’s decision whether they have to buy it. But I won’t.’
