In Diablo 4 you can shape your hero as you wish. Various possibilities can be shaped from these freedoms, and that is why we explain to you how the system behind it works and what you can design yourself.
Can I change the appearance of my hero? According to the developers, Diablo 4 is supposed to offer freedom in how you can design your hero. The system that long-time fans of Diablo 1 – 3 know will belong to the past. You will have the choice before your journey to give your hero various skin, hair, and eye colors, as well as makeup, new hair, and jewelry – but only up to a certain point.
Additionally, a transmog system and skins from the in-game shop should support your creativity so that you can dress your hero in robes that you like. We explain how this works in the following paragraph.
Freedom, Transmog, and Skins from the Shop
This is how customization of your appearance works: For each class, you can choose between gender and a selection of various predefined faces. After that, you can select details such as colors, hair, makeup, and jewelry. Diablo 4 even shows on Twitter how the system works:
However, your customizations are not the end, as Diablo 4 also offers transmog. With this, you can decide which armor to wear and what color to dye it without having to remove strong armors.
If that is not enough for you and the armors in the game are not to your liking, check out the in-game shop. It will constantly surprise you with new skins for armors that you can purchase for real money.
Facial adjustments are limited: If you hoped that Diablo 4 would allow you to deform your hero like in Dark Souls or Elden Ring and cover him with a colorful palette, you will be disappointed. You will have freedoms in designing your hero, but when it comes to the face, you are significantly limited compared to Dark Souls. Facial proportions will most likely not be alterable.
You can choose from a selection of faces, but after you have dressed that face with colors and jewelry, your hero is already fully created.
