Don’t have time or enthusiasm to level up to 900 in Destiny 2? No problem. With the new booster, you can simply buy the level-up.
How can you quickly reach level 900 in Destiny 2? Since October 15th, Bungie has offered a “Character Boost” for Destiny 2. With this, it is possible to quickly bring your hero to level 900.
How much does the boost cost and what restrictions are there? For the Shadowkeep Character Boost, you pay 2,000 Silver, which is roughly equivalent to 20 Euros.
However, you can only buy the booster if you have already brought one Guardian to level 900. It is therefore not possible to start the game new with a Power Level of 750 and immediately buy the booster for your first Guardian.
Fast Ascension with Bonuses
What exactly does the booster provide? Not only will your Guardian be instantly pushed to level 900, but they will also benefit from additional advantages:
- All locations in the game are immediately unlocked
- You will receive weapons and armor of level 900
- The items will be sent to you via the Postmaster system
What happens if you delete such a high-leveled character? Then they are gone. Including all items. There are also no refunds.
Doesn’t this boost go against the game principle of Destiny 2? The loot shooter essentially defines itself by grinding for more items and leveling up to higher levels. Actually, this skips most of the game.
However, for many Destiny 2 fans, the endgame such as the new Nightfalls or the Raid are particularly important. For that, a highly leveled Guardian is needed and with the boost, it allows several characters to quickly reach the soft cap level and thus start into the endgame directly with different characters.
Is the boost even necessary? You automatically start with level 750 with the Shadowkeep add-on or the free-to-play version Destiny 2: New Light anyway. Existing characters are automatically raised to 750 along with their equipment.
Then you can relatively quickly, within a few hours, level up by about 100 levels. So achieving the soft cap of 900 is not really a big effort. However, if you want to save that, you can buy the boost for 2,000 Silver.
The Community is Not Bothered by the Boost
How does the community react to the boost? Surprisingly, only a few people are upset about it. Of course, there are those who find it unfair to be able to buy a level-up with money. But the opposing voices are more numerous.
After all, such level boosts are also found in other games. Moreover, for most, it’s simply about the endgame, where the game truly begins for many Guardians. How one ultimately gets there seems to not matter to many. Therefore, many players view this level boost quite relaxed.
- Player lebaumer remarked on Reddit: “Honestly, I don’t understand why people complain about it when it doesn’t really affect them. Not everyone has the time to grind a lot, and even if they did have the time, they might not want to.”
- Syekomantis writes in the official forum: “Games like Neverwinter offer similar things that allow you to complete entire campaigns to avoid grinding. And WoW has a character boost for 60 dollars. Yes, people just buy such things.”
What do you think about this level boost? Does it bother you? Do you find it useful? Or is this feature completely indifferent to you?
