The new killer “Dredge” is now wreaking havoc in Dead by Daylight. And he is probably the grossest killer that the horror game has had so far …
The latest patch 6.0.0 in Dead by Daylight is now live and brings a fresh chapter with it. The highlight of “Roots of Dread” is probably the new killer Dredge, the personified version of the creepy “monster in the closet” that waits for survivors with a disgusting body and plenty of terrible weapons. There are also numerous new perks, a new survivor, and a new map.
What kind of killer is this? The new killer Dredge (in German: “Die Dredsche”) is probably one of the creepiest killers ever. At its core, it is a black, undulating mass from which all sorts of creepy extremities protrude. Flesh pressed into various shapes, speckled with sharp bones and the skulls of those Dredge has already devoured. A claw-like arm with a sharp scythe that can cause heavy damage and drag victims into the black darkness of its body.
This is what the new killer “Dredge” can do
As befits the proverbial “monster in the closet,” Dredge can do exactly that: come out of closets and bring terror to survivors. This is particularly nasty if a survivor happens to be inside the respective closet, as they will be automatically grabbed. But the “Dredge” can do much more. It can leave a copy of itself behind and return to it by activating its ability, for example, to cut off survivors or bridge large distances.
At the same time, Dredge can teleport from closet to closet, allowing it to move relatively quickly across the map and track down survivors.
Another ability is the Nightfall. This is a passive ability that slowly fills up. Once the bar is full, the night falls and envelops survivors in darkness. They have drastically reduced visibility, and Dredge’s teleport ability is significantly faster during this time. Additionally, a killer instinct effect helps track nearby survivors. Nightfall lasts for a few seconds before the effect automatically ends and the cycle begins again.
Survivors can also lock closets once with a lock to briefly prevent the killer from appearing from that closet. Once a lock has been destroyed by the killer, it cannot be reused in that match.
At the same time, Dead by Daylight is working on another game where the disgusting killers have different tasks, namely in the dating sim “Hooked on You”:
These are the 3 perks of killer Dredge
Like all killers, Dredge comes with 3 unique perks that can only be used by this creature at the start. As usual, these perks can be unlocked in a “teachable” version through the blood web and then learned by other killers later. The 3 perks of Dredge are:
- Termination: 3 seconds after you injure a survivor in any way, Termination becomes active for 12 / 16 / 20 seconds. If a survivor quickly jumps over a pallet within your terror radius during this time, the pallet is immediately destroyed by the Entity after the jump and Termination is deactivated.
- Revealed Darkness: When you search a locker, the auras of all survivors within an 8-meter radius of lockers are revealed to you for 3 / 4 / 5 seconds. Revealed Darkness has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
- Septic Touch: Whenever a survivor performs a healing action within your terror radius, they suffer from “Blindness” and “Exhaustion.” The effects remain active for 6 / 8 / 10 additional seconds after the healing has been interrupted in any way.
In addition, the patch introduced a new killer perk that is available for all killers:
- Shattered Hope: If you destroy a blessing totem with this perk, the auras of all survivors within the range of this blessing totem are revealed to you for 6 / 7 / 8 seconds.
These are the 3 perks of survivor Haddie Kaur
Haddie Kaur also brings 3 new perks, which only she can use at first, but later all survivors can learn. This is meant to bring fresh air into the gameplay of the survivors. The 3 new perks are:
- Inner Focus: You see scratch marks of other survivors within 32 meters. Whenever another survivor within 32 meters takes damage, the killer’s aura is revealed to you for 3 / 4 / 5 seconds.
- Manifestation of the Remains: After you have blinded the killer, they suffer from the state of Blindness for 20 / 25 / 30 seconds. If you search a chest for the first time per match, you are guaranteed to find a simple flashlight.
- Overzealous: Blessing a totem activates Overzealous. Your repair speed on generators is then increased by 4% / 5% / 6%. If you take damage, Overzealous is deactivated.
What does the new chapter cost? The new “Roots of Dread” chapter costs 7 euros on PC via Steam. As usual, you can also unlock the (unlicensed) killer and the survivor with blood shards without having to pay money.
What do you think of killer Dredge and survivor Haddie Kaur? Cool abilities and interesting perks? Or not exciting at all?
