The MMORPG ArcheAge is getting a new class in December in Korea. Its focus is on firearms. As all specializations in the game can be combined, there are so many combos that even fans of the game are starting to feel overwhelmed.
What is happening in ArcheAge? A new patch will be released for the Korean version of the MMORPG on December 3rd. This brings among other things:
- A revision of the workforce
- An increase of the maximum gold limit
- A new trade route
- and a new class specialization called Insanity
The 13th specialization in the game focuses on firearms, more specifically on shotguns. In a trailer, the developers have already shown what to expect from the class:
How do the 286 classes come about? In ArcheAge, you can select 3 specializations each and unlock skills and attributes through them.
With the 13 specializations and the 3 free slots, 286 different combinations arise, each leading to a slightly adjusted playstyle. This makes the game one of the MMORPGs with the largest selection of classes.
The last new class, the Swiftblade, was introduced in October 2019 along with patch 6.0. Since then, new game content has primarily been added in the form of the expansion “Garden of the Gods”, which was released in the summer.
When will the class come to us? So far, only the release for Korea is known. Updates usually arrive for us 3 to 6 months later.
Ranged class with high damage but slow shots
What is currently known about Insanity? The website D Pain has already compiled a lot of information from the Korean test server.
The new class Insanity is supposed to rely on long range, similar to the Archer, but the shotgun fires significantly slower. However, the damage is higher. Additionally, there are expected to be some powerful AoE skills.
Additionally, some images of the firearms that you can later equip in ArcheAge have already been compiled.
How are the initial reactions to the class? Under the developers’ videos, a variety of comments regarding the new class have already gathered. Some pointed out that it’s more a lack of endgame tasks than a lack of new classes.
On the website MMORPG.org.pl, a user even referred to the large number of classes as a downside of the game, saying it leads to a lack of balance among specializations.
Also on reddit, the user RedTheMad complains about the class:
The nostalgic part of me, who is in love with what the game once was… is hyped and curious. But the realistic and pragmatic side of me sees no sense in bringing a new class into a game with so many rough flaws.
The great hope ArcheAge 2
While there are increasingly negative comments on reddit and under the video regarding the development of ArcheAge, many others are placing their hopes in ArcheAge 2.
The successor MMORPG has already been announced and is set to appear in 2022 using Unreal Engine 5:
ArcheAge 2 is coming in 2022 – focusing on Unreal Engine 5 and new races
