Players are currently waiting for the next update on Anthem. They are passing the time by painting their Javelins like well-known characters from games, movies, and television.
Freelancers play “Dress-Up”: The players of Anthem had to endure a slight dry spell last week. The developers withdrew and worked on the next big update. During this time, they were hardly visible in the Anthem subreddit or on social media.
A player posted a picture a few days ago of his Javelin, which he painted like the Pokémon Charizard. The picture was well received by the freelancers, and even the Community Lead of Anthem mentioned that he thinks the Charizard suit is great.

BioWare’s brief response triggered an avalanche. More and more players showcased pictures of their Javelins, which look like Pokémon, superheroes, and villains, or even black holes (via Reddit).

The freelancers have drawn inspiration from many different sources, including various Pokémon such as Blastoise and Mewtwo, but also villains from the comic universe, like the Green Goblin or this impressive Doctor Doom:
Here we have already presented seven Javelins that look like someone you know.
This is what the players say: The creativity of the “costumes” is well received by many players and inspires some to also try a new coat of paint on their Javelins. Fashionlancer, making your Javelin look particularly good or eye-catching, is part of the endgame for some players.
But not everyone is fond of the costume play. A user mentioned on Reddit that Anthem has officially become a “Cosplay Simulator” and called it “sad.” The mood in the community is currently difficult. The freelancers want to look forward to the game and the new content, yet for some, the state of Anthem hardly allows for that.
