The story of Jujutsu Kaisen will end in 2024. Mangaka Gege Akutami has confirmed that he will complete the manga this year. However, he probably has to clear up some unresolved questions that linger in the minds of the fans.
Warning, there is a spoiler regarding chapter 265 of the manga and the Shibuya Incident Arc of the anime and the manga.
Which character is involved? The Shibuya Incident Arc has taken the lives of numerous characters. However, it was not entirely clear whether one person survived. Nobara Kugisaki, who formed a team with Yuji and Megumi under Gojo, was severely injured in the battle against Mahito.
- She lost part of her face during the fight and lay motionless on the ground.
- Her wounds looked fatal, but another student named Arata Nitta tried to heal her.
- In a conversation, he mentioned that Nobara might be dead.
But this “might” has given many fans hope that Nobara could have survived the situation. As it turns out in the current chapter, this is rather unlikely.
There is even a movie for Jujutsu Kaisen:
Nobara is one of the victims of the Shibuya Arc
How was her death confirmed? Normally, the death of characters in the anime is confirmed by a funeral, a conversation, or the autopsy of the body. In Nobara’s case, she was not heard from for over 100 chapters, even though she was one of the main characters.
Yuji is currently preparing to use his Domain Expansion. He talks about how aware he has become that life is important. The moment feels very emotional. In the background, there are some people visible who were important to him and who have since passed away.
Unfortunately, Nobara is also among the people that many users on X are now mourning. X user RamXT5 writes that Nobara is gone forever:
Is there a possibility that she could return? There is still a last glimmer of hope. It has been revealed that Yuji was intentionally kept from some information due to the fear that Sukuna might rummage through his memories (via Screen Rant).
One piece of information could be that Nobara somehow survived. That way, Sukuna might never find out that she could be a potential opponent for him. Given the depiction in the manga, this scenario seems rather unlikely. The two were talking about a plan to help Yuji in battle, not about which individuals might have survived.
One way or another, it is nice to see what an important part she was for Yuji and that her passing is honored in his memories. Unfortunately, the end of Jujutsu Kaisen is already looming, so not much time would be left to confirm her death: The mangaka of Jujutsu Kaisen sacrifices epilogue to ensure his plan for the finale works out
