Dragon Ball has many iconic villains that are still loved by fans today. Among them is Majin Boo. In the original series, it was explained how he actually came into being, but in the latest series, that has changed.
Majin Boo was the last great villain in Dragon Ball Z, before the final episode of the series aired on January 31, 1996, in Japan. Fans didn’t have to wait long, as Dragon Ball GT started in February 1996 with new transformations.
Years later, Dragon Ball Super came along and in 2024 Dragon Ball Daima. Over such a long time, more backgrounds on old characters are revealed. In the case of Majin Boo, however, this resulted in 3 different origin stories.

What is Majin Buu anyway? Majin Boo, also known in the community as Kid Boo
, is the pure, evil form of the demon Boo. He first appears in the Boo arc and is depicted as an uncontrollable being that cannot speak.
In the original manga and anime, it is explained that the wizard Bibidi created the demon, who became increasingly powerful and evil during his orgies of destruction.
In Dragon Ball Daima, however, this story is changed. The series tells that the witch Marba created the demon on behalf of Bibidi. In the series, more is learned about the demon realm and the 2 new demons, Majin Kuu and Majin Duu, who were created from parts of Boo’s essence and plant man seeds.
Interestingly, Toriyama changed the origin story back in 2014 in an interview (via kanzenshuu.com). There, the mangaka explains that although the Kaioshin said that Boo was created by Bibidi, that is not true. Boo existed long before the beginning of time.
Even more absurd is the ending of evil Boo. After Goku defeated him, he was reincarnated as a good-hearted person named Oob.
The Boo situation shows how some story snippets can change over time, especially when a series like Daima plays between two others. The changes likely didn’t harm the story itself. By the way, Majin Boo was so powerful that even Freezer was warned: 10 years ago, a villain in Dragon Ball was warned about 2 powerful warriors, but they were neither Goku nor Vegeta
