The Steam Deck may soon be sold out. Valve is now warning of shortages in the official shop.
A few days ago, we reported that the Steam Deck could soon be sold out. The situation has since worsened: As of now (February 17, 2026), only the most expensive OLED model with 1 TB of storage is available. The cheaper model is now sold out in Germany.
Valve has now added a note on the English page of the Steam Deck, stating that the Steam Deck will be “temporarily” unavailable in some regions of the world. The German shop page does not yet have this notice.
In general, this means: If you want to still get a Steam Deck and not buy from some scalper looking to profit from the situation, you should act now. Various reports suggest that the current RAM and storage crisis may worsen and last at least until 2027.
Bad omens for the Steam Machine
What is happening with the Steam Machine? Officially, Valve intended to release its Steam Machine in spring 2026, but some fear that the shortages with the Steam Deck might also affect the new Steam Machine. Valve had already announced that it would postpone the Steam Machine due to the RAM shortage.
And since the current situation could worsen, this may not only impact the Steam Deck but also the new Steam Machine.
