GTA 6 is probably the most anticipated game currently available. However, not everyone can relate to the hype. Among those who cannot connect with Rockstar’s title is an actor who played an important role in part 5.
Which actor is it? Most gamers probably know Steven Ogg for one of his most famous roles as Trevor in GTA V. Fans of the series might recognize him as Simon from The Walking Dead, a character that Ogg portrayed from 2016 to 2018 over three seasons.
Players remember him well as Trevor. The hot-headed Trevor Philips is an intriguing character where one never knows what madness he will indulge in next. For us, he is one of the most exciting characters in the GTA series.
It may surprise many that Steven Ogg has no real understanding of GTA V because, according to his own statement, he hasn’t played it himself. He mentioned in an interview that he is not a gamer and even added, that GTA 6 has not interested him so far.
Steven Ogg recommends Russian literature
What does the actor say about GTA 6? When asked about the highly anticipated sequel to the fifth part, Ogg replied quite unemotionally: “I feel nothing.”
When the interviewer asked if the response was serious, Ogg continued: “I’m not a gamer. I’ve never played a video game.”
Not even GTA V, in which he himself appears as Trevor, has Ogg played. The actor shared that someone recommended he try Rockstar Games’ highly acclaimed epic. Ogg declined and countered with his own recommendation.
What does the actor recommend? Video games are not one of Steven Ogg’s passions, but books are. He emphasized how much he loves this medium and recommended “Crime and Punishment” by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
The book, which was previously known as “Sin and Punishment” in older translations, is a classic of Russian literature. The answer may come as a surprise, especially after discussing GTA, and so did it for the person who recommended Dostoevsky’s book to Ogg: “He was completely speechless.”
What does the community say? The actor’s statement receives mixed reactions from gamers on x.com. While some think Ogg is joking, others welcome the literature recommendation:
- “This must be a joke,” writes Ignition Casino.
- “Dostoevsky changes your life, I just became a fan,” admits ChiefStrategos.
- “Many actors don’t play the games they are in; they treat them just like other acting jobs,” explains GameCentric regarding Ogg’s lack of interest in GTA.
- “I mean, business is business. But avoiding an industry where you left such a huge mark is simply shocking,” states Hollywoodx95 regarding the vast reach the actor gained through GTA V.
Thus, Steven Ogg will not touch GTA 6 either. Many active players might feel differently. After all, many are eagerly awaiting the release of the game in Spring 2026. It is stepping into big shoes, which could become a problem: An analyst is sure: The biggest competitor of GTA 6 will be a 12-year-old game that still sells well
