December in GTA Online has some cool content. MeinMMO editor Patrick Freese is really looking forward to what’s happening. But what is actually happening?
What’s going on in GTA Online? The community is eagerly awaiting the release of the new heist. Because the upcoming update is the largest the online mode of GTA 5 has ever seen.
This month it will be happening. And this release makes December 2020 a lot better for me, even though the winter month already has a lot to offer.
3 contents that make December 2020 in GTA Online so good
So you know exactly what is happening in the coming weeks, I will show you the upcoming content and explain what makes them so good.
I have been managing GTA Online for MeinMMO for several years and have been playing it practically since release, with breaks. In summary, I should now have over 700 hours of playtime in the online part of Grand Theft Auto V. During that time, I’ve experienced quite a few Decembers and many more events in the game.
1. The big heist update “Cayo Perico”
What is it? In December, GTA Online brings the new heist. After the casino heist, this is the next PvE content for the online mode of GTA 5. The special thing is that you can play and complete this one completely solo. Normally, heists in GTA Online take place in groups consisting of two to four players.
In the Cayo Perico heist you are to infiltrate the private island Cayo Perico. But be careful, because it belongs to the most notorious drug dealer in the world. You can steal artworks, gold, and dirty drug money. This will be a new way to earn a lot of money in GTA Online.
When is it coming? The heist comes with its island expansion on December 15, 2020. In the YouTube trailer, you can already get a first glimpse of the heist:
The new update brings additional content besides the heist. These include:
- New vehicles
- Tactical weapons
- Social spaces for dancing
- New radio stations with over 100 new songs
- A heavily armed submarine as headquarters
2. The mysterious vehicle gift
What is it? In November, the GTA Online team started a challenge with players. They were to earn several billion dollars in heists to unlock a gift for all players.
Upon completion of the challenge, Rockstar Games announced that the community had reached the goal.
In the announcement, it states: “As a reward for your collective efforts, everyone will receive a special new vehicle in the launch week of the next major GTA Online update in December.”
So you will also receive the vehicle as a gift at that time!
What kind of vehicle it is, however, is still unclear. Last year, GTA Online gave away a remote-controlled mini-tank for Christmas.
When is it coming? The update is set to be released on December 15. From then on, the vehicle gift will also be available.
3. Snow and Christmas 2020
What is it? Snow in GTA Online is an annual event. In short: It snows in Los Santos.
Why is that so good? Well. You’re already racing your powerful racing cars around the curves of the online world like crazy. On snow, it’s just even better!
Not just a good thing for the racers among you. Pedestrians also get their share. Because as we have seen in previous years, a function returns in line with the snow. You can form and throw snowballs. Yes, exactly! Whether you choose the heads of innocent NPCs as targets for the frostball or throw them at other players. Nobody can say anything against a snowball fight in GTA Online.
When is it coming? Last year, the snowfall started on December 19. It is quite possible that this year the kickoff will happen at a similar time.
Throughout the Christmas holidays, the snow was then active and returned again for New Year.
