In the world of Hunter x Hunter, battles are more than just physical confrontations – they are a creative challenge that tests both the abilities of the fighters and their imagination. In this article, Mein-MMO introduces you to 5 extraordinary weapons from the anime of Hunter x Hunter.
How were the weapons chosen? The weapons used by the characters in battle often reflect their personality and individual Nen style. In Hunter x Hunter, a weapon is an integral part of the user’s identity, often deeply intertwined with their life philosophy, strengths, and weaknesses.
Not selected were classic swords or guns, but weapons that surprise or particularly stand out thanks to their Nen style. “Nen” is the central power system in Hunter x Hunter: it describes the ability to control one’s life energy (Aura) and transform it into individual combat techniques.

1. Basho – The Haiku Wizard
Who is he? Basho is introduced during the Yorknew City
arc, at a time when Kurapika is searching for the stolen eyes of the Kurta clan. To get closer to the Phantom Troupe – the group responsible for the theft – Kurapika joins as a bodyguard for the wealthy collector Neon Nostrade.
Basho is one of the other professional bodyguards in this group. He comes across as a calm, serious man who carries a certain literary pride and a strong sense of duty. In the Nostrade family, he undertakes protective and security tasks, particularly during the dangerous auction in Yorknew City.
What does he use as a weapon? Basho uses a unique Nen ability based on the art form of haiku. A haiku is a traditional Japanese poem consisting of three lines divided into syllable counts of 5-7-5.
Each haiku he speaks has the power to manifest the described elements in the real world. To activate these and achieve a strong effect, however, the poem must be well-formed. This method makes Basho’s weapon one of the most unusual in the entire universe of Hunter x Hunter.
