Borderlands 3 is receiving a new, major update today with lots of content for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Along with the announced “Takedown at Maliwan Blacksite,” a new Mayhem level, new loot, and balance updates are coming. We take a look at the patch notes.
When is the patch coming? After players have been waiting for the Maliwan update for a long time, the new patch will be released today, in the night from Thursday, the 21st to Friday, the 22nd of November before 2 AM German time (5 PM PT).
What’s included in the update? The new update will feature many previously announced contents, but also some new ones.
Here’s what’s in the patch:
- The new activity Takedown at Maliwan Blacksite (Maliwan Takedown)
- New Difficulty: Mayhem 4 with new loot
- Balance updates for Moze, Zane, and FL4K
- Bug fixes and stability improvements
Maliwan Update from November 21 – Patch Notes
This is Maliwan Takedown: Lorelei hires Vault Hunters from level 50 after completing the story to find out what Maliwan is developing in terms of new weapons. The new activity is designed for four players and is expected to be very challenging, like a raid.
Takedowns are coming to the game as a new feature with Maliwan. If you die, you are permanently out and have to watch. A respawn is only available after half of the takedown (after defeating the Valkyrie Squad) and after a victory over Wotan to grab the loot.
This is Mayhem 4: Mayhem 4 will be the new difficulty with which you can dive into the endgame of Borderlands 3 . Mayhem 4
- increases the health points of enemies even further
- increases the chance for loot
- adds brand new Legendary items
With the new weapons and mods, new builds are supposed to be possible, which players can experiment with. Perhaps this will replace the currently strongest builds. Gearbox is also already working on “Mayhem 2.0”.
Update Changes Pets’ Balance
This is how the balance changes: The changes in this patch mainly affect companions and thus three of the four Vault Hunters. Only Amara is currently in a good position, and the developers are satisfied with the selection of her builds. We have briefly summarized the changes for you here:
- Moze’s Iron Bear now benefits from many of her skills and deals generally more damage and gets a stronger shield.
- Zane receives several buffs to many skills that increase his damage and the effectiveness of his Cryo builds.
- FL4K’s companions deal more damage, and many of his skills further increase their damage.
