With Defiance 2050, Trion Worlds aims to re-launch the online shooter and essentially provide a kind of reboot of the game. A beta will start soon, and the sign-up for PS4, Xbox One, and PC is ongoing.
The online shooter Defiance was released in 2013 as an addition to the TV series of the same name. The series has since been canceled – and the shooter has also aged a bit. Although the game’s ratings on Steam are quite positive, the player count according to Steamcharts is currently hovering around 380 players simultaneously.
In response, developer Trion Worlds wants to take action and has announced a reboot with Defiance 2050, which modernizes the shooter from the ground up and brings it to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The online shooter is being modernized
Defiance 2050 is set four years after the original game, so it is a sequel that also represents a modernization. The innovations of the reboot include:
- Higher resolution textures
- Higher resolutions
- Larger battles
- New class system
- Itemization
- Release for PS4 and Xbox One as well

Sign up for the beta
If you are interested in Defiance 2050, it is now possible to sign up for the beta. To do so, visit the game’s website and register there. Provide the desired platform, your age, and an email address. With a bit of luck, you will then gain access to the closed beta as soon as it starts. You can then get started and check out the new version.
There is currently no fixed date for the testing phase, but it is supposed to happen “soon”. Then you can get an insight into the many innovations that are meant to make Defiance 2050 a modern online shooter.
With Defiance 2050, Trion Worlds hopes to attract both former players and newcomers.
