The beta phase of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War starts tomorrow (on October 8) on PlayStation 4. The developers have now revealed new details and made it clear: There will be weapon blueprints like in Modern Warfare, and you can get the first one in the beta.
What can I grab in the beta? Call of Duty wants to give you a deep insight into the multiplayer of the new Black Ops and offers an extensive beta phase for Cold War over 2 extended weekends. Here you can find all information about the beta test.
But the beta not only gives you a look at the mechanics, which are partly designed quite differently than in Modern Warfare. You can also earn a weapon blueprint for the full game.
Mutual Animosity – SMG Blueprint Earn In Beta
How will that happen? To access the SMG Type 821 blueprint, you must reach account level 10 in the beta. Once the game releases on November 13, you can use your first weapon blueprint.
According to a CoD blog post on callofduty.com, it is now known that there will be a leveling system in the beta. While in the alpha all players were stuck at level 1 and the equipment was already unlocked at the start, in the beta you will need to level up and earn the gear first. This includes:
- Weapons
- Equipment
- Create-a-Class Slots
- Scorestreaks
The attachments for individual weapons may already be fully available once you’ve unlocked a weapon. However, you may need to level up first in this case as well. You can already fully utilize the gunsmith – the alpha offered 17 weapons.
Beta on PS4 starts on October 8
When does the beta run? The test runs over 2 weekends in 4 different access phases. PlayStation 4 players have a total of more time to check out Cold War:
- October 8 – 9
- Only PS4 and only pre-order players have access
- October 10 – 12
- Only PS4, but all players with PS Plus have access
- October 15 – 16
- Access for PS4 players with PS Plus and pre-order players on PC and Xbox (Xbox Live required)
- October 17 – 19
- This is the open beta phase for everyone – players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC have access (PS Plus or Xbox Live required on consoles)
What else does the beta offer? You can look forward to some new modes that are newly introduced with Cold War, as well as traditional modes:
- 6vs6 modes – Domination, TDM, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint
- VIP Escort – 6vs6, where one player is the VIP who must be protected
- Combined Arms – 12vs12 mode with larger maps and vehicles
- Fireteams – The Ground War variant of Cold War as 40vs40
How many and which maps the beta will offer has not yet been revealed by the CoD creators. In the alpha there were three 6vs6 maps and two 12vs12. There will probably be at least one more map for the large Fireteams mode. The developers have already hinted that the beta will be significantly more extensive than the alpha phase.
