If you want to take on a particularly tough challenge in PvE in Destiny 2, try the Grandmaster difficulty of the Nightfall. MeinMMO presents builds that will ensure your victory.
What you can find here: In Destiny 2, hardcore players can take on the currently toughest PvE challenge in the entire game since July 21, the Grandmaster difficulty in the Nightfall. This special version of the Nightfall was created specifically for hardcore players and streamers.
We will show you 3 builds that will help you successfully navigate the extremely challenging activity. And they are suitable for the entire Season 11, no matter which of the rotating missions is active.
Why the activity is so hard: With a Power Level of 1,100, Grandmaster will try to intimidate you. As a requirement to participate, the entire team must reach 1,075 – Regular players in Season 11 can only reach 1,060, the remaining 15 levels must come from the artifact. In short, everyone is under-leveled for Grandmaster.
Oh, we almost forgot the multitude of negative modifiers, which are the metaphorical, nasty cherry on top of the bitter ice cream sundae. Here are some of the nasty surprises the game throws your way:
- Limit on revives
- If everyone dies at the same time, the mission must be restarted
- There are more champions, more enemy shields, higher resistances
- Locked loadouts
- Each of the 6 missions also has its own handful of modifiers, which make your life even harder
If you also want the best loot, you have to deal with all the annoying champions of the mission. What you can expect as a reward is revealed by MeinMMO here:
Complete the Nightfall on Grandmaster in Destiny 2
So you don’t despair at the challenge, we present builds from PvE pro Ehroar. He belongs to the most famous Destiny clan (Redeem) and has already won World First races in raids. Keep in mind that most of the tactics that have proven effective in the game fail at Grandmaster.
First, we introduce you to 3 weapon combinations and then move on to mod selection. Afterwards, there will be recommendations for the best subclasses.
Focus on these 3 weapon combinations
This is what player 1 should always use: The role of player 1 is to weaken enemies and take on champions from a safe distance, as they can dismantle the team in seconds. For this, use:
- Divinity: This exotic offers a debuff from a distance, enlarges the critical hitbox, and interrupts overload champions
- Unstoppable Hand Cannon: One shot is enough to briefly stop the otherwise relentless champions – The Unstoppable mod works better on hand cannons than on, for example, pulse rifles
- Machine Gun in the power slot: This is how you break most shields quickly – Coordinate with the team about the element
No matter which mission is active, this combination should always be used by one player.
This is what the safe build option looks like: As a complement, you should use these weapons:
- Eriana’s Vow: The exotic hand cannon penetrates shields, breaks champion barriers, and is used for damage against stopped champions – As a masterwork, you reload automatically
- Primary weapon with range – Pulse rifles are a good choice
- Machine gun in the power slot – Match the element again
Players 2 and 3 can use this combo. Equipped like this, you have an answer to every enemy, but you won’t race through the mission at lightning speed. Ideal for getting accustomed to the Grandmaster difficulty.
This is the risky build: If you feel at home in Grandmaster difficulty, you should use these weapons:
- Izanagi’s Burden: The exotic sniper rifle can make quick work in combination with Divinity
- Particle Beam with debuff: If you break an enemy shield with it, the whole team deals 50% extra damage to the enemy – Can be stacked with Divinity
- The Falling Guillotine: The powerful sword can swiftly dismantle stopped champions and bosses when used correctly
If you coordinate well with your team, enemies can be eliminated very quickly. Note that at least 2 players should simultaneously hold the buffed Izanagi on a champion.
Focus on these mods: To successfully navigate the Nightfall, you should use a mix of artifact mods from Season 11 and the “Charged with Light” mechanic:
- Charge with Light (costs 3 energy)
- Protective Light (costs 2 void energy)
- Reactive Pulse (costs 3 arc energy)
- Special Finisher (costs 2 energy)
- Overload Darkness (costs 6 energy)
This way, you quickly become Charged with Light and have a safety net that protects you from wiping. Additionally, you gain bonus damage and a steady flow of ammunition.
Depending on the weapon and class, you can add, for example, sword or disruptor mods. Alternatively, Warmind cells are a good choice when playing with the Ikelos SMG in the safe build.
The best subclasses for the toughest challenge in Destiny 2
How to play the Hunter: Choose the Nightstalker with the Way of the Trapper. Your job is to revive the team in emergencies and use invisibility for quick retreats or safe advances.
- As an exotic, the Graviton Forfeit is a good choice to stay invisible longer
How to play the Titan: You have the best chance with Sentinel and the Code of the Protector. With your bubble and swords, you can take down even bosses safely and quickly.
- With the exotic Helm of Saint-14, you gain even more protection and blind enemies in your bubble
How to play the Warlock: Aggressive players rely on the Voidwalker and Chaos Reach. If you decide on the safe option, the Dawnblade with the Attunement of Grace is a good choice.
- Voidwalkers use the exotic gloves Controversial Hold and fully rely on their enhanced grenades
- Dawnblades utilize the exotic armor Phoenix Protocol to heal the team more often
