One of the big questions about the Netflix version of One Piece concerns the possible ending. Viewers wonder how many more seasons we will see from the actors who portray Luffy and the Straw Hat crew. The producers provide a realistic answer, which should please many fans.
How many more seasons are coming our way? In an interview, IGN was confident that we have seen about 10% of One Piece so far. They asked whether the producers were ready for a series that goes beyond 20 seasons.
Becky Clements, one of the producers, responded that she would love to see 16-20 seasons. However, she stated that this is far from realistic, which is why she sees the ending coming sooner:
I believe he is more realistic than I am. We agree that we have, in my opinion, 8 to 10. The 16 comes from the fact that I just want to do everything.
Thus, One Piece has shown not only 10% but 20-25% of the series already. And as the producer mentions, the team knows which section the original creator of the manga, Eiichiro Oda, wants to end the series. Presumably, they will take this vision into account.
Possible Ending of One Piece at a Certain Arc
When could the possible ending be? In a previous interview, Clements revealed that the team already has plans for 6 seasons. The remaining 2-4 seasons would need to be filled in.
Our MeinMMO editor Niko has already analyzed that One Piece would go to Egghead Island in 12 seasons. With 6 seasons, he sees the ending at the Sabaody Archipelago.
What does MeinMMO editor Jasmin say? With the new realization that it could rather be 8 seasons, the storyline is somewhat stretched, which my colleague has planned. However, I come to the same conclusion regarding the final arc:
- Season 3: Alabasta
- Season 4: Jaya and Skypia
- Season 5: Water 7
- Season 6: Enies Lobby
- Season 7: Thriller Bark
- Season 8: Sabaody Archipelago
And that would be great news for all fans, because this means that the best arcs that the anime One Piece has to offer are still included in the Netflix series. If you look in the community on Reddit or also on YouTube, you can see that especially Enies Lobby, Water Seven, and the Sabaody Archipelago are among the most popular arcs.
Thus, the best is yet to come in the Netflix series. Even if the plan for the seasons should be somewhat staggered or stretched, these story arcs are definitely included. Also, the end of the original will probably be settled soon: When does the story of One Piece end?
