As Bungie wrote: “To better meet our goals, we have reduced the required appreciation point total to fulfill the objectives in all Guardian ranks. The target descriptions will be updated in-game on March 16 to reflect the new appreciation requirements.”

What are the Guardian ranks in Destiny 2? With Lightfall, Bungie introduced a new system for players to showcase their experience in the loot shooter. The Guardian ranks, as the system is called, offer them a lot of new tasks to complete.
- There are a total of 11 ranks to climb on the way to “role model”.
- Each rank contains multiple objectives in the form of challenges, and all must be completed before moving on to the next rank.
- Unlike other ranks such as those of the Vanguard, the Crucible, or the Gambit rank, you do not automatically level up.
Ranks 1-6 are still relatively easy to achieve because they are intended to provide new players with a kind of tutorial on how Destiny works. Only starting from rank 8 does it get progressively harder.
However, those who want the ultimate prestige to be considered a “role model” in Destiny 2 must master several tough challenges and also possess the latest DLC.

All tasks to be completed for Guardian rank 8 to 11
Most Guardians have already started at rank 6 “Veteran”. Bungie granted this to its longtime players automatically. From rank 8 onwards, however, it gets serious for the status “Justiciar”.
Those who complete the journey to rank 11 have basically done everything in Destiny 2. And those who have done everything, no matter how difficult, should have a good understanding of it. Because to achieve these goals from the ranks, you need more experience, repetition, time, and game knowledge.
Veterans can distinguish themselves as experienced players and showcase their status as “icon or role model of guardianship”, whom every New Light in Destiny 2 respects.

Now let’s come to the highest Guardian rank class, the “Role Model”. Those who have made it this far can already be proud. But these few tasks pose one last and challenging hurdle.

Don’t ignore your own appreciations
That’s why you should always evaluate other guardians: The appreciations received and appreciation points are not the same, even though they stand in relation to each other. Appreciations are solely from praise from other guardians. However, you also earn points for the evaluation itself.
These points are composed of the total number of appreciation points received and awarded in the current season through group activities. They are increased when you help players at lower ranks.
Consequently, those who give little or no praise to other guardians do not do themselves any favors and will noticeably have fewer of their own appreciation points.
Guardian Ranks are reset with each season
Can I keep my Guardian rank? Yes and no. Some of the Guardian rank objectives are outlined in Destiny 2 with colored boxes.
- White outlined tasks are general in nature and not tied to seasons or DLCs.
- Blue outlined are seasonal objectives that will likely be reset after season 20.
- Gold outlined are DLC-specific challenges within the Guardian ranks.
This means that in each season, the Guardian rank will be reset. Especially since some objectives are tied to season 20. Some of these objectives will no longer be available in season 21 and will be replaced with new ones to be completed.
