Place 7: Seasmoke
- Current rider: Unclaimed
- Former riders: Laenor Velaryon
Seasmoke was Laenor Velaryon’s dragon and was born around the same time as his rider, making him at least an adult by human standards. Seasmoke has impressively proven his combat abilities in the battle of the Stepstones.
After Laenor faked his death, he was forced to leave his dragon behind. Since then, Seasmoke has remained riderless and in mourning.
- Fun fact: Seasmoke was the first dragon to belong exclusively to House Velaryon.
Place 6: Syrax
- Current rider: Rhaenyra Targaryen
- Former riders: /
The dragon lady Syrax is also still quite young. As a young dragon, she was claimed by Princess Rhaenyra, who named Syrax after a Valyrian goddess.
Despite her youth, Syrax is known to be much larger and stronger than other dragons of her age. However, she has no combat experience and has mostly been kept in the dragon pit, which has significantly hampered her later development.
- Fun fact: Syrax is the only dragon in the series we explicitly know has laid eggs.
Place 5: Dreamfyre
- Current rider: Heleana Targaryen
- Former riders: Rhaena Targaryen
The rather quiet and reserved Heleana Targaryen is definitely not a warrior. But her dragon lady Dreamfyre should not be underestimated.
Dreamfyre was born during the reign of Aegon the Conqueror and is therefore one of the oldest living dragons in House of the Dragon. She was originally the dragon of Princess Rhaena Targaryen, a granddaughter of Aegon the Conqueror.
Due to her experience, Dreamfyre is a serious threat. However, she is relatively small and slender for her age. She is just as large as the much younger Seasmoke. Additionally, Heleana rarely rides her dragon, meaning they lack practice together in battle.
- Fun fact: Dreamfyre is said to have killed more enemies than three other dragons combined.
Place 4: Meleys
- Current rider: Rhaenys Velaryon
- Former riders: Alyssa Targaryen
Meleys is the dragon of Rhaenys Velaryon and is also known as “The Red Queen.” As this title shows, Meleys is an imposing ruler of the skies.
She is one of the largest and oldest dragons in Westeros and was said to have been faster than Caraxes and Vhagar in her youth, despite her size. Meleys’ first rider was Alyssa Targaryen, the mother of King Viserys I.
In House of the Dragon, Meleys also made an impressive appearance when she fled King’s Landing with her rider Rhaenys.
- Fun fact: When Viserys was nine years old, his mother took him on his first flight on a dragon – on Meleys’ back.
