What must not be missing in a series titled House of the Dragon? Of course, the dragons. And there are several of them in the new prequel series of Game of Thrones. But which dragon is actually the most powerful? We at MeinMMO have ranked the top 10 dragons by strength for you.
What was the ranking based on? In the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, there were countless dragons, especially in the past.
- In the ranking, we only consider dragons that have already been seen in the series House of the Dragon.
- The strength at the time of the series is crucial.
Warning Spoilers: To explain the ranking, we will discuss events from the series up to and including Season 2 Episode 2. Potential future events from the books will not be spoiled.
Place 10: Arrax
- Current rider: Lucerys Velaryon
- Former riders: /
Arrax is the youngest, and thus the smallest dragon in House of the Dragon. He was born shortly after his rider Lucerys Velaryon, which means the young dragon is probably between 10 and 15 years old.
To his older counterparts, he is nothing more than a snack. We see this in the season 1 finale when he is hunted and killed by Vhagar with his rider Aemond Targaryen.
- Fun fact: Arrax was actually supposed to appear much earlier in the series but was then replaced by his brother Vermax. Poor Arrax.
Place 9: Vermax
- Current rider: Jacerys Velaryon
- Former riders: /
Just like his younger brother Lucerys, Jacerys Velaryon was given a dragon at his birth. This dragon was Vermax.
He is slightly older and larger than Arrax. However, compared to the other dragons in Westeros, Vermax is still a juvenile.
- Fun fact: Vermax has a great aversion to snow, ice, and cold. So the trip to the Wall probably didn’t suit him very well.
Place 8: Sunfyre
- Current rider: Aegon II. Targaryen
- Former riders: /
Aegon II. Targaryen may not be a good king, but his abilities as a dragon rider should not be underestimated. His dragon, Sunfyre, is quite impressive as well.
Sunfyre is especially known for his appearance. With his golden scales, he is considered the most magnificent dragon ever to exist in Westeros. However, he still lacks experience in battle.
- Fun fact: In reference to Sunfyre, Aegon II chose a golden three-headed dragon as his banner.
