2. Team Green
The heart of Team Green is Alicent. She is a born Hightower and the later wife of King Viserys. However, on her husband’s deathbed, a misunderstanding occurs. She now believes that Viserys would prefer her son Aegon as the heir.
She then quickly ensures that Aegon ends up on the throne, thereby undermining Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne.
Reasons to support Team Green:
Alicent was naive: When Alicent placed her son Aegon on the throne, she firmly believed that she was acting in Viserys’s will. Should one blame her for that?
Good governance: While Aegon himself may not be cut out to be a good king, Alicent and her father Otto Hightower are much more skilled in politics. Especially Otto, who was the Hand of the King for a long time, knows how to govern the realm well.
Aemond as a strong king: To call Aemond a “good king” would probably be more than questionable. However, one cannot deny that he presents himself stronger than his brother Aegon or even Rhaenyra. He does not hesitate to go over corpses to achieve his goals. And he doesn’t let anyone dictate him.
Vhagar: Team Green may not have many dragons. However, they have Vhagar, the largest and oldest dragon that exists during the time of House of the Dragon.
Helaena: Even if one is very much for Team Black, one simply cannot hate Helaena. She is quiet, reserved, and rejects all forms of war. Due to her “quirkiness,” especially her visions, she experiences much rejection and is a very lonely person.
Rhaenyra’s illegitimate heirs: The three oldest sons of Rhaenyra do not come from her first husband Laenor but from an affair, namely Harwin Strong. Therefore, they are bastards who do not have an automatic right to the throne.
Daemon is quite…difficult: As cool as Daemon may be, he has a lot of dirt on his hands. For example, he cold-bloodedly killed his first wife or committed serious war crimes against innocent civilians. This definitely speaks against Team Black, and thus for Team Green.
3. Choose a side
There are numerous reasons for and against both sides. But which one has convinced you more? Choose one of the two teams and show us whom you support.
Even though Team Green and Team Black primarily fight against each other in House of the Dragon, there are many other houses. Many of them pursue their own goals and have their own long histories.
