Rank 3: Aegon V, the Unlikely

Aegon V was known in his youth by the nickname Egg (English: Egg) and served as the squire of Ser Duncan the Great. He was the “fourth son of a fourth son” and thus had little prospect of the throne.
Due to some unfortunate events, he ultimately ends up on the Iron Throne and rules for over 25 years as Aegon the Unlikely. He did his job decently, even though he never actually wanted to be king and only took on the rule out of a sense of duty.
We actually learn his story in the Hedge Knight books, which also has a series planned. It is supposed to premiere at the end of 2025.

Rank 2: Aegon III, Dragon’s Death

Fans of House of the Dragon have already met Aegon III, if only as a child. He is the son of Rhaenyra and Daemon and will play an important role in the future.
At only ten years old, he ascends the Iron Throne but is so unhappy and traumatized by the events of the civil war that he is also called Aegon the Unlucky or the Broken King.
His long and peaceful reign is mainly characterized by the reconstruction of the realm. However, it is also known for the fact that during this time the last dragon died. This earned him the name Ageon Dragon’s Death.
Rank 1: Aegon I, the Conqueror

No ruler has ever been as significant for Westeros as Aegon I Targaryen, also known as Aegon the Conqueror. Together with his two sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys, he succeeded for the first time in conquering and uniting almost all of Westeros under his rule.
This event was so important that it even began a new chronology: before Aegon’s conquest (B.A.C.) and after Aegon’s conquest (A.C.).
Aegon I was a great warrior, fighting with his dragon Balerion, the probably largest dragon that ever existed, in numerous battles. But he also knew how to lead his realm politically and never failed to be generous to those who joined him.
Ultimately, he is to blame for the popularity of the name Aegon. Because everyone wants to be associated with such a great ruler.
