Rank 3: A Son for a Son (Episode 1)
- IMDb Rating: 8.3 / 10 stars
- Number of Ratings: 35,492
The season opener packs a punch. Rhaenyra goes in search of confirmation of Luc’s death. Meanwhile, her other son Jace is at the Wall, trying to recruit the Starks as allies.
The “highlight” of the episode was Blood and Cheese, although not everyone was 100% satisfied with the execution. Daemon hires a city guard and a ratcatcher to have Aemond murdered. However, they do not carry out their task correctly and instead kill Jaehaerys, the son and heir of King Aegon.
The scenes with Blood and Cheese were really exciting. But knowing what happens in the book, it just doesn’t have the same impact. Still, a pretty good start to season 2, nice to be back in this world.

Rank 2: The Red Seed (Episode 7)
- IMDb Rating: 8.9 / 10 stars
- Number of Ratings: 30,314
With 8.9 stars, the penultimate episode lands a solid second place. The situation escalates further, and Rhaenyra urgently needs new dragon riders. For this, she is even considering Targaryen bastards from the common folk.
There are numerous deaths, but in the end, three dragons actually have a new rider.
Daemon in Harrenhal also finds it difficult. Young Lord Oskar Tully gives him plenty of resistance.
The dragons steal the spotlight, the CGI is impressive, and the worldbuilding is believable.

Rank 1: The Red Dragon and the Golden (Episode 4)
- IMDb Rating: 9.5 / 10 stars
- Number of Ratings: 52,677
Episode 4 is the undisputed favorite with 9.5 stars, surpassing even the best episode of the last season (episode 10 with 9.3 stars).
This is also not surprising. Because the legendary Dance of the Dragons finally begins. In the battle for Crow’s Rest, three dragons enter into a fight: Rhaenys on Meleys, Aegon on Sunfyre, and Aemond on Vhagar.
In the end, Meleys is no match for the two opposing dragons, and Rhaenys falls to her death as a brave warrior.
I really believe this episode delivered exactly what it had to. Above all, the feeling that there was no victory for either side, which is rarely the case in wars.
