After the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Update 1.13, strange occurrences were discovered on some multiplayer maps. Many players see this as a hint at the imminent return of the cult character Ghost.
What did players discover in Modern Warfare? Recently, the Modern Warfare Update 1.13 was released. Included was, among other things, the new weapon Crossbow as well as various changes and bug fixes.
Additionally, new Easter eggs have made their way into the game. Many believe they tease the return of a popular Modern Warfare character – namely Ghost.
What is the deal with the Easter eggs? On some multiplayer maps, some fans encountered strange appearances on screens.
For instance, attentive players noticed that something had changed on the multiplayer map Picadilly. However, it was not the architecture or layout of the map.
Rather, the large digital billboard on one of the buildings now briefly displayed a white skull on a black background next to advertisements. Afterward, the image quickly disappeared and the usual advertisement continued.

On other maps, a skull was also spotted briefly, such as in the Tavorsk District on the screen of a fast food restaurant.
Why do many think of a return of Ghost? The skull is a symbol of the Ghosts, who received their own CoD spin-off. Primarily, the displayed skulls strongly resemble the iconic mask of the beloved Modern Warfare cult figure Simon “Ghost” Riley.
Since this Easter egg comes from the current Modern Warfare, many see the flickering skull as a clear reference to Ghost’s skull mask and therefore assume a return is imminent.
Already in November 2019, a datamining discovery revealed 13 new operators that will likely make their way into Modern Warfare at some point. Among them was also Ghost.
For many players, it is therefore just a matter of time before this cult character enters the game – and the new Easter egg would now tease that this time is likely to come soon.
Moreover, Ghost is among the most popular and exciting characters of the Modern Warfare series. It makes sense that Infinity Ward would eventually bring this cult figure into the game.
How might Ghost come to the game? Modern Warfare will probably not receive a story continuation anytime soon. Ghost was also among the leaked new operators. Therefore, it is assumed that he will be introduced as a playable character for the multiplayer of CoD Modern Warfare.
Fans see it as most likely that he could either be introduced during the upcoming Season 2, for example as part of the new Battle Pass, or be available for purchase in the in-game shop.
Season 1 has now been extended, but hardly anyone believes that Ghost will make his entrance at this short notice.
What do the players say? Many are looking forward to this iconic character becoming available as a playable operator soon. However, they hope he will be earnable through gameplay. Because paying €20 for a new operator, as the previous comments suggest, is not something anyone is keen on – no matter how iconic he may be.
