Chromie from Heroes of the Storm has been improved. She had one of the lowest win rates in the game.
More Life and Strength for Chromie
After the release of a new hero in Heroes of the Storm, they are rarely well-balanced right away. Almost always, adjustments need to be made a few weeks later to ensure the hero does not appear too strong or too weak. The same fate has now befallen Chromie, who experienced her first balance patch on the night of June 2. This was desperately needed, as Chromie had one of the worst starts ever in HotS with a win rate of just under 30%.
And here are the changes in detail:
- The hit points have been increased from 1128 (+4% per level) to 1160 (+4% per level), with health regeneration adjusted accordingly.
- The damage of Sand Blast has been increased by 3%, and the cooldown has been reduced from 3 seconds to 2.5 seconds.
- The damage of Dragon Breath has been increased by nearly 8%, and the cooldown has been reduced from 14 seconds to 12 seconds.
Along with these changes, the talents have also been adjusted.
- Möbius Loop (Level 6) now reduces the cooldown of Dragon Breath by only 40% instead of 50%. Therefore, the cooldown is still lower than before the patch (6 seconds instead of 7).
- Anachronism (Level 6) now slows the enemy by 50%, instead of the previous 40%.
- Sandstorms (Level 15) increases the damage after hitting with Sand Blast by 8% (previously 10%) and now stacks only up to 40% (previously 50%).
- Wandering Dune (Level 15) reduces the cooldown of Sand Blast by only 0.75 seconds (previously 1 second). Together with the change mentioned above, it is still an improvement.
- Quantum Acceleration (Level 15) now only increases ability damage by 20% instead of 25%.

In summary, the changes seem to balance each other out. Whether this truly brings Chromie closer to a 50% win rate remains to be seen. Generally, it is normal for a “complicated” character like Chromie to have a lower win rate, as she has a fairly high “skill cap” and tends to reach her full potential with experienced players.
