A Way Out
The game is one of the best co-op games ever. In it, the two players take on the roles of two prison inmates, Leo and Vincent. During their stay in prison, the two get to know each other and plan an escape.
The escape takes them across the USA and to Mexico, to deal with their common enemy Harvey, a high-ranking criminal. Upon their return, they are stopped at the airport by the police. It turns out that Vincent was never a true criminal, but an undercover agent of the authorities. He allied himself with Leo and used him as a means to get to Harvey, who was being hunted by the police.
The twist itself is not particularly new or original but works especially well due to the co-op aspect. For about 10 hours of gameplay, both players must pull together, help each other, and thus grow close together. When it turns out that one of them is a traitor, it hits hard. It doesn’t help that in the end, one of them dies – and the other has to pull the trigger. Tissues are indispensable for this twist.
