Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Star Wars is, of course, famous for surprising twists with its “I am your father” scene. Also in the role-playing game Knights of the Old Republic by Bioware, there is a twist waiting for players at the end.
While you initially awaken without any memory, you learn more about the Sith Lord Darth Malak and his apprentice Darth Revan throughout the story. Especially the latter has committed numerous horrific crimes and has embraced the dark side.
You and your allies must stop him and Malak. In the end, there is a confrontation with the Sith Lord, and it is revealed that the player themselves is Revan. He was wounded during a battle and his memory was erased by the Jedi to serve their purposes. Quite nasty. The game is set to receive a remake along with the twist, the trailer of which you see above. However, when exactly that will happen is still uncertain.
