Gotrek Gurnisson
The goal of every Slayer is to die a heroic death. But what happens when a Slayer is so powerful that no enemy can grant him that death? In this unfortunate predicament is Gotrek Gurnisson: a Slayer who wants to die but simply cannot because he is too strong.
The source of his immense power is an axe he picked up on his first expedition in the northern Chaos Wastes from the corpse of a Dwarf. As it later turned out, it was an axe enhanced by rune magic, granting him immense power.
As a Slayer, Gotrek traveled for a long time with the warrior-poet Felix Jaeger. Their adventures have been the subject of many novels. But eventually, their paths separated.
Even the end of the world of Warhammer Fantasy did not bring Gotrek the desired death. As a final act, the Dwarf stepped through a portal into the realm of Chaos to finally find his longed-for end – only to land thousands of years later in the realms of mortals, the world of Age of Sigmar.
Gotrek is both the greatest and the worst Dwarven Slayer of all time.
