The Secret Wish of Fans: Imps
Anyone who has played Divinity: Original Sin probably knows about the imps: an originally very curious and open race that was bound into servitude as a whole species by demons through a trick.
Imps are not directly seen in the trailer as one of the races listed here, but on Reddit, some fans have speculated about what might be possible, and imps do make sense:
- Divinity is supposed to be Larian’s biggest game yet. That the studio introduces playable races of all seven gods sounds reasonable – and imps have their own god: Xentazza.
- Demons could play an important role in Divinity, and since the imps have freed themselves from them (or are trying to), there would be a story connection to them.
- Imps are also considered very intelligent and magically gifted, an archetype that is not yet represented specifically in the other races.
Similar to orcs, imps have primarily appeared as enemies in previous Divinity games – except in Divinity: Original Sin, where they assist you in your base… or annoy you. With them, there would be a second opportunity to forge entirely new paths and give players more options.
