Short and Painless: Dwarves
A few dwarves can also be seen in the trailer, recognizable by their small stature and rather stocky silhouette – by the way, something that doesn’t necessarily align with the mythological origin of dwarves.
Besides their appearance, dwarves in the Divinity universe also adhere to very few of the stereotypes you know from the short-legged folk. They do live under the mountains but not in clans with a strong sense of honor as is usually known.
Instead, the dwarven culture is shaped by monarchy, nobility, and a caste system, from which one cannot really escape. Besides, Divinity dwarves are not stubborn warriors and masterful stonemasons or blacksmiths, but rather the opposite: agile, nimble, and light-footed fighters with a certain propensity for light-fingeredness.
Accordingly, many characteristics of dwarves are more what you might expect from halflings elsewhere. Dwarves are “hardier” than other races, but at the same time also more agile and better stealthy with a certain magical connection to the earth.
