Matches in Hearthstone are expected to last significantly longer. At least during the World Championship, as “Endless Decks” are popular.
The new cards from “Conspiracy of Shadows” bring fun, new deck combinations to Hearthstone. However, some players might find certain combos rather annoying, as they could drag games on endlessly. At least that is what Muzahidul Islam, better known as “Muzzy”, fears. He is competing in the Hearthstone World Championship.
Warriors will dominate: In an interview with PCGamesN, Muzzy stated that the Bomb Warrior would likely dominate the World Championship. The issue lies not with the Bomb Warrior itself, but with a combination of cards that allows players to create an almost endless deck.
This lengthens the matches, especially when both sides are playing such a deck.
What are the problem cards? Specifically, this concerns Archivist Elysiana. This legendary minion removes the player’s deck via Battlecry and then creates a new deck from ten cards. Usually, such a Battlecry is only triggered once, but through “recall mechanics,” the effect can be played multiple times.
Currently, the “Ruthless Greed” is the problem. For two mana, it chooses a friendly minion and shuffles it back into the deck. This is done with Archivist Elysiana.
Muzzy assumes that Blizzard will change something about the cards and likely also “Mad Genius Dr. Boom” after the World Championship. These cards simply provide too much “Value” and would ensure that the Warrior is currently in too strong a position.
This is also reflected in the fact that Warriors are particularly well represented at the World Championship – the professionals seem to agree.
Old problem in new guise: Earlier, there were combinations that could stretch matches to 90 turns. Then a match ends in a draw. Back then, this was rather rare, but it could indeed steal an hour of the evening from those affected, especially when one might have only planned a few minutes for Hearthstone.
