The PlayStation 5 not only looks special, but its design can also confuse some people – apparently even the head of PlayStation Studios.
This is special about the PS5’s design: With the design of the PS5, Sony has left behind the traditionally “boxy” design of consoles. The PlayStation 5 is characterized by curves, rounded shapes, and asymmetrical forms.
If you don’t pay close attention to how to set it up, it can definitely be confusing – apparently even for Sony officials.
A tweet from the head of PlayStation Studios causes amusement: Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, recently posted a short video on Twitter, which caused many laughs among some PlayStation fans.
He played Bugsnax, one of the launch titles, on his PS5 and filmed his cat, which apparently also had fun catching the weird mixtures of insects and snacks.
But that wasn’t the only thing that brought amusement. Players quickly noticed the “special” way Hulst had set up his PS5 – namely upside down and without the accompanying stand.
Although the head of PlayStation Studios deleted this tweet relatively quickly and then posted a clip where the PS5 was no longer visible, his “upside down” PS5 had already been captured by some people and was making the rounds.
How players are reacting: Some say that it seems slightly unprofessional for a high-ranking PlayStation official. But in the end, this little faux pas brings about laughter, good mood, and funny comments, for example on the discussion platform ResetEra.
Here are some comments from there:
- “Even the people at Sony are confused by the design of the PlayStation 5. A funny cat”
- “To be fair: He probably plays all his games digitally anyway and never uses the disc drive… But yes, that’s hilarious”
- “That thing needs a big ‘This side up’ sticker”
- “Maybe this is a secret way to get the best performance”
- “When playing like that, the console becomes the PS5 Pro”
How do you actually set up the PS5 correctly? According to Sony, it doesn’t matter how you ultimately set up your PS5 – whether vertically like a tower or horizontally. However, you cannot correctly mount the stand upside down, which in itself prescribes the proper position of the console. Additionally, there could be issues with disc versions of games if the disc is played upside down. However, for digital games, the PS5 apparently has no problems even upside down.
What do you think of this little mishap of the PlayStation Studios head? Human and funny or a no-go for a high-ranking Sony official? Has the design of the PS5 confused you as well?
