In H1Z1 two games have emerged from one. Now both are being presented in short trailers.
H1Z1 was originally conceived as a sort of “The Walking Dead meets Minecraft,” but over time an arena shooter was developed to reach new audiences through Twitch. This is now separated as “King of the Kill,” while the core game continues under “Just Survive.”
Now both games are being showcased in two trailers. There, one can also see the different target audiences that H1Z1 aims to attract; “Just Survive,” the zombie MMO part, clearly appeals to fans of “The Walking Dead” in its aesthetic.
Meanwhile, the trailer for the arena shooter “King of the Kill” has more of those psychopath movie vibes. Last Man Standing, after all.
While “King of the Kill” is set to be released soon on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, aiming for summer, Just Survive will remain in Early Access on PC for a while longer. Long-term, the MMO part is also planned to come to consoles and be released eventually.
Those who already own H1Z1 have access to both. New players can purchase the part they want separately. For now, both games will continue to be available in Early Access on Steam.
The separation of the two games into their own titles was completed about an hour ago. It went relatively smoothly, as much longer maintenance was anticipated.
