With the new update, players can ride a cool Raptor in Guild Wars 2 at level 10. Previously, this was only possible from level 80.
What kind of mount is this? The Raptor is a dino-mount that carries you on its back. It is one of the fastest ground mounts and can perform long jumps. Now you can ride the Raptor at level 10.
Additionally, it has a special ability that is useful in combat. It jumps to a specific spot and automatically dismounts you. Then you have all enemies right next to you and just need to take them down.
Where was this before? Until now, you had to reach level 80 and own the Path of Fire expansion to get the Raptor.
The expansion introduced mounts in Guild Wars 2, and the Raptor was the first. Within the story, you traveled to a village, helped the villagers, and received the mount as a reward. There are now many different mounts.

And the Masteries? All mounts have their own masteries that unlock new abilities for them. With this, the Raptor can jump further. When it jumps on enemies, it temporarily pulls them in while dismounting you.
However, you cannot level the masteries at level 10 yet. This actually only happens when you reach level 80 and have purchased Path of Fire.
Guild Wars 2 is coming to Steam soon and aims to attract new players
The MMORPG is set to be released on Steam in 2022 and aims to be more beginner-friendly to attract new players to the Steam version. Riding a Raptor is already a strong argument to check out Guild Wars 2. The developers are hoping for new players.
Additionally, there have been some recent adjustments to make the game less complicated:
- In the dungeons, there is now only one currency, previously there were 8. The rewards have also been slightly improved.
- A new raid mode makes it easier for beginners to defeat the bosses.
- The training arena has been simplified.
- The categories of daily achievements have been consolidated and are now clearer.
- Additionally, there are continuous bug fixes.
When is GW2 coming to Steam? This is not known. Officially, it has been stated that the release is expected to happen in 2022.
