This year, Guild Wars 2 players can once again look forward to Winter’s Day. For several weeks, the city of Divinity’s Reach will be festively decorated, and there will be plenty of achievements and activities to complete.
The event was announced on ArenaNet’s social media accounts with a short teaser video. It will begin on December 11 and will last for approximately four weeks.
What’s new for Winter’s Day 2018?
What does the teaser show? Although ArenaNet has not officially announced any new features, there is something new to see in the teaser video. At the end, you can spot the head of a snowman.
This is located in an icy place that has not been seen in the game before. Players speculate that the snowman dungeon could be returning. This was an activity from its predecessor, Guild Wars Eye of the North.
There, players could choose to fight as a snowman against Grinches or as followers of the Grinches against snowmen.
A surprise every day? On Instagram, the developers also announced a daily surprise. According to the official statement, today is the first of twelve special Winter’s Days.
The event will run until December 19. What we can expect each day is not yet known. However, the focus seems to be on the social media accounts.
The activities of Winter’s Day
Tixx and his crazy workshop: For the winter effect in the capital of humans, the Asura Tixx and his airship are responsible. However, this year, the toys are once again staging a rebellion there.
In various activities in the crazy workshop, you must defeat the toys and defend the Dolyaks. Since last year, the Toypocalypse, a particularly large challenge, is also available for preformed groups again.
There, you can team up with four friends to take on the golem Givvt. You will have special weapons available, including a candy cane as a hammer.
Winter Wonderland and Winter Presence: For many, a highlight is the returning Winter Wonderland. This is a jumping puzzle that received a major overhaul with the last event.
There are three paths that lead to the goal. One is relatively easy, while the others are more challenging. Depending on the difficulty, the rewards in the form of gifts increase.
Additionally, this year it is once again possible to craft the special shoulder item Winter Presence. This is an invisible armor that causes a permanent snowfall effect around you.

How can I participate in Winter’s Day?
The Winter’s Day event in Guild Wars 2 is available to every player. Whether a free account or a holder of Path of Fire, everyone can enter the city of Divinity’s Reach and participate in the activities.
Even the mount races, usually reserved for holders of these, are available. However, you pay a small silver fee per hour and only get the standard skin without special effects or coloring.
