The PvP in Guild Wars 2 is set to improve with the new season. The fifth PvP season starts on December 13, 2016, and is expected to bring numerous changes to PvP. This includes adjustments to matchmaking and the waiting time for a PvP match.
More Fairness and Fewer Leaderboard Camping
In a video, the developers at ArenaNet explain all the changes coming to PvP. For instance, it will be faster to find a match. The limits on ranking points have been removed. Additionally, only groups of up to two players will compete in ranked games. Another new feature is a “Skill Rating” that categorizes players into one of five “Divisions”. The top 250 players will have their own league. The Skill Rating will decay after a period of inactivity and will reset between seasons.
Also cool: There will be more loot if you play many rounds. The personal score will be removed, and there will instead be a number of metrics showing how much damage you deal, heal, or complete mission objectives. Lastly, the map “Skyhammer” will be added to the rotation, while “Stronghold” will be removed.
