Guild Wars 2 had an arena PvP mode but so far no arena map! It is high time for this to change, so with the upcoming update to Episode 2 of the Living Story, alongside the Fire Ring and the new story, there will also be another PvP map inspired by a classic gladiatorial arena – The Eternal Coliseum!
It’s called ArenaNet, the company behind Guild Wars 2, but there has not been a proper PvP arena in the game until now! Therefore, the developers have finally made improvements, and for the upcoming update for the second episode of the third season of the Living Story, PvP enthusiasts will also get a real gladiatorial arena with spectator stands, from where the crowd cheers or jeers at the fighters!
The new arena is called “Eternal Coliseum” and features a classic amphitheater, but is also filled with various obstacles. Therefore, the battles will be more chaotic and allow for more tactical maneuvers. To win, we must capture and hold as many of the three capture points as possible. As a special twist, there are two special artifacts:
- The offensive artifact grants the bearer and the entire team a 20 percent bonus on all damage, whether from conditions or weapons. Additionally, it can automatically finish off any downed enemy (which pleases the audience a lot)!
- The defensive artifact, on the other hand, provides an additional 5,000 hitpoints and 100 additional toughness for the bearer and their team. Moreover, there is an instant revival for the bearer.
As is customary in structured PvP in Guild Wars 2, five players from one team fight against an equally strong enemy team. The Eternal Coliseum will be part of the regular PvP map rotation and will appear on September 20, 2016.
