Finally, you can craft the best gear in Guild Wars 2 without PvP or raids – because the new update brings many improvements.
In the meantime, Guild Wars 2 is in the middle of the fourth expansion “Secrets of the Obscure”. Three major updates were initially planned for the addon, and now the second patch has launched, bringing a lot of new features.

What about the armor? Until now, it was necessary to participate in the tougher endgame features of Guild Wars 2 to obtain legendary gear. You had the choice of:
- PvP
- World vs. World battles
- Raids
Those who participated in these activities and achieved corresponding successes could enjoy legendary gear.
With the latest patch, however, you can earn the first level of a new gear in the open world. Of course, you will inevitably have to explore the new areas on the map and invest some time – but at least you are no longer dependent on game content that requires significant coordination.
What else is in the update? Besides the new area with new events, there is also another quite substantial change. All classes receive access to new weapons and thereby altered play styles. For instance, the thief can now use an axe or warriors can use an axe.
Another highlight might be hidden in the daily login rewards. Because those who stick with it can soon literally live in cat paradise – and will receive a scratching post that is truly impressive.
What comes next? A third major update is still pending for the “Secrets of the Obscure” expansion – but that will likely be several months away. Even if it will certainly bring the story to a preliminary conclusion and “more of the familiar” comes, some fans hope that there might already be hints for the 5th expansion of Guild Wars 2.
