One of the most well-known MMORPGs “Guild Wars 2” makes its entry into the Steam universe today. Therefore, we will show you everything important about the launch with times and the corresponding prices here on MeinMMO.
What is happening with Guild Wars 2? The popular MMORPG is celebrating its 10th anniversary, as it was first released on August 28, 2012. For this reason, the developers are now planning to officially run the game on Steam. Players can thus download Guild Wars 2 for free on Steam on August 23 and can casually take a look at it.

What time should I keep an eye on? The release takes place today on August 23 at exactly 9 PM German time. However, you can already add the game to your wish list on Steam and subscribe to it.
How much does Guild Wars 2 cost on Steam? The base game of GW2 is free on Steam. However, if you are excited about the MMORPG universe, you can also indulge in the “Complete Edition.” This edition costs 100 € and includes all known expansions to date.
This includes the following:
- Heart of Thorns
- Path of Fire
- End of Dragons
- All 5 seasons of the Living World, which tells the story between the expansions
You will receive all known expansions in one package at a good price. If you were to purchase the DLCs individually, the price would therefore increase further.
Is there a catch? If you were excited to finally play your hard-earned character on Steam, we unfortunately have to disappoint you. You cannot transfer your existing accounts for Guild Wars 2 to Steam. If you choose a launcher, you will have to start from scratch again.
Nevertheless, the community is united, as they all play on the same servers. So, if your friend decides to start on Steam, you can wreak havoc together on the servers.
