The developers of Guild Wars 2 faced a big Q&A session with the community on Reddit. The discussion included topics such as insider trading, DPS meters, and raids.
Guild Wars 2 has a persistent problem with insider traders. These are certain individuals from the circle of beta testers and other insiders who test new content from the outset and provide feedback. Therefore, they also know which resources will soon play a role in new crafting recipes.
In your Face, Insider!
While a good tester keeps this information for themselves and does not exploit it, there are sneaky individuals who take advantage of their secret insider knowledge to buy needed resources cheaply in the auction house and then sell them for astronomical sums at the time of the update release.
Such tricksters ruin the delicate economy in Guild Wars 2, and in a large Reddit Q&A session, the developers also addressed the insider trading problem. They have a special surprise in store because via hotfix the required resources were changed to other items. Gotcha! Now the insiders are left with tons of useless materials and are crying.
No PAX and the Question about the DPS Meter
The topic of insider traders was not the only thing the players discussed with the developers on Reddit. For example, it was stated that Guild Wars 2 will not be appearing at the big PAX East fair. Therefore, there will be no announcement for a new expansion or anything like that there. Furthermore, the developers denied the question of vertical progression in GW2.
They want to continue with the existing system and not introduce better equipment. Therefore, raids will also not offer over-items as loot in the future. Passionate raiders, on the other hand, may use pure DPS meters during raids as long as they only read combat data and display the DPS and other combat-related values.
However, anything that intrudes deeper into the game data – such as a gear checker – is a violation of the terms of use and could lead to consequences.
