With the new summer update for GTA Online, Rockstar has introduced two new weapons to the game. One of them sends you on a scavenger hunt across Los Santos. Here’s how you can get the weapon and what you need to do for it.
Which weapons are new? With the new summer update of GTA Online, not only new cars and improvements to the weapon wheel were introduced, but also two new weapons. They are as follows:
- Precision rifle – Cost: $450,000 (can be cheaper with discounts)
- Service Carbine (M16) – Cannot be purchased
While the new sniper can be purchased at any Ammu-Nation shop, many players are wondering how to obtain the new assault rifle “M16”. MeinMMO shows you what you need to do.

How to unlock the M16 – Map with Locations
To unlock the M16, you need to visit crime scenes, also known as “Crime Scenes”. These are randomly generated at various locations tied to events, just like the film props from Solomon.
You need to go to the posted locations and hope that an event takes place. In these events, you will find weapon parts needed for building the weapon. These will be marked in your vicinity with a blue dot.

How many weapon parts are there? In total, you need to find five weapon parts to have the weapon complete in your hands. These include:
- Barrel
- Magazine
- Sight
- Scope
- Bolt
Once you have collected all the listed weapon parts, you will automatically unlock the weapon.

What is the best way to get to these locations? To quickly and easily visit all necessary locations, the Oppressor MK2 is worthwhile. With it, you are not bound to the road and can easily traverse any terrain.
Why aren’t events starting for me? Since the task is new and players are not exactly sure whether the scavenger hunt is related to the new IAA quest, it could be that you first need to complete this.
So first complete the new IAA quest and then look for the weapon parts. This way you can ensure that it’s not the quest but your luck that is at stake.
