With the latest update, GTA Online aimed to improve the game and reduce loading times. While this seems to have worked on PC, players on Xbox and PS consoles are complaining about issues. What’s going on?
What kind of update was this? In patch 1.54, which was released on March 16, the long loading times of GTA Online were primarily addressed. The solution was found by a fan, who was rewarded with $10,000 by Rockstar Games.
However, this apparently only applies to PC. On PlayStation and Xbox consoles, the official improvement was supposed to be just the network connection. Nevertheless, players on these platforms are now reporting issues. On Xbox, these issues are apparently so severe that the update was even rolled back. What’s happening?
Update had to be removed from Xbox consoles
These issues occurred: On Reddit, numerous Xbox players reported that the game crashes while logging into the servers. A restart of the game could not remedy the situation. The problem apparently related to the player’s NAT status.
Rockstar seemingly saw only one solution and released a quick fix that had to patch the game back to the old version. This was supposed to address the issues on Xbox, at least, as the known GTAO data miner Tez2 reported on Twitter.
How are things for PlayStation users? Some players on PS consoles apparently couldn’t install the new update at all and therefore didn’t have any serious problems.
So if you’re among the affected players on Xbox, you should download the update and restart the game completely. Whether the update will be revised and re-released is currently unknown. There is still no official statement regarding the issues on PlayStation consoles.
Is it working now? Apparently, it seems to be running again, as numerous players report. On Twitter, for example, !Toni! writes: “It finally works. Thanks, Rockstar!”
