GTA 6 takes place in two locations: Vice City and South America. The release is in 2022 and for the first time you play as a female protagonist. At least that’s what the latest rumors say.
The next installment of the Grand Theft Auto series takes place in Miami or Rockstar’s version of South Florida, better known as Vice City. For some missions, you are supposed to have to fly to South America in GTA 6.
These new rumors come from an insider source, so take them with caution.
GTA 6 Release in 2022, female lead
For the first time in GTA’s history, players are said to play the story in GTA 6 with a female character. Whether the woman remains the only playable character, or if like in GTA 5 several main characters will be playable, is still uncertain.
However, we still have to wait a bit for the release. According to recent rumors, Grand Theft Auto VI is not expected to be released until in 3-4 years. Let’s give Rockstar some time; therefore, we can roughly expect the release of this new GTA installment in 2022.
These rumors come from the YouTube channel “The Know”. An insider source is cited there, who allegedly knows more about the project. However, the source wants to remain anonymous.
According to this source, GTA 6 is internally referred to at Rockstar as “Project Americas”.
In the past, the The Know channel reported according to VG247 often about rumors and leaks. Before the official announcement, they were already able to release details about Dark Souls 3.
Fans love Vice City
A comeback of Vice City would delight many players in the community.
Together with San Andreas, Vice City is often mentioned as one of the best entries in the GTA franchise. The radio stations are unforgettable, playing hits from the 80s from Nena to Black Sabbath. Stations like Flash-FM or V-Rock have shaped the musical taste of many gamers.
While GTA 6 is supposed to take place in Miami or Vice City, it is unclear whether there will be a “modern” setting or if players will be transported back to the 1980s again. A reunion with the main protagonist Tommy Vercetti could also be possible.
No official information about GTA 6 has been released yet. And if development is supposed to take another 3-4 years, we will probably have to wait a little longer for that.
