Although GTA 6 has not even been released yet, it has already won its first award. The development team at Rockstar thanks the fans and promises that more is to come.
What kind of award is this? GTA 6 won the “Most Wanted” award at the Golden Joystick Awards 2024. This means it has outperformed other games that are also expected to be released soon and are eagerly awaited by fans. Nominees included:

- Mafia: The Old Country

- Doom: The Dark Ages
As this category is a public award, fans were able to vote for who should receive the award in this category. The award thus reflects quite well that GTA 6 is possibly the most awaited game in the world.
With the trailer for GTA 6, Rockstar has generated a lot of excitement. The 90-second video has so much action, lawbreaking and realistic animations, that it has created a lot of hype among fans. It’s no wonder that GTA 6 has become the most awaited game at the awards.

How does Rockstar respond to the award? In their acceptance speech, the development team thanks the fans for the award and reveals that such awards mean a lot to the team. The developers also tease that big things are coming:
There are incredibly many people doing amazing things with Grand Theft Auto 6. Absolutely stunning things. So it is a real honor to come here and accept this award on behalf of everyone. I wish more of us could be here. But thank you all, and yes – more is coming. I thank you.
However, the development team remains extremely vague in the teaser. They left it open which features will be included in GTA 6.
When will there be new information? GTA 6 is currently scheduled for 2025. Therefore, new information about the game should follow in the coming months to hype it up even more.
The award is likely to increase the pressure on the development team even further, as they want to meet the expectations of the fans.
